Basic information
A widget is an interactive block of content that typically showcases one or more content items. Widgets are an important tool for sharing and promoting content across the public site. Pangea CMS lets you create a wide variety of widget types that serve different purposes.
This article provides an overview of the different widget types you can build from Pangea CMS.
Content widget
The Content widget lets you share and promote content pages across the public site. This is a highly customizable widget that offers a wide variety of layout options. The Content widget is the most commonly used widget on Pangea sites.
A single Content widget might promote one or multiple content pages (all content types are supported). If desired, promote a mixture of content types on the same widget. A Content widget displays a simple teaser for each promoted content page. Visitors can tap or click a teaser to open the content page.

FactCheck widget
The FactCheck widget lets you share and promote FactCheck pages across the public site.
A single FactCheck widget might promote one or multiple FactCheck pages. A FactCheck widget includes an at-a-glance summary for each promoted FactCheck page.

HTML widget
An HTML widget is like a blank canvas that lets you display custom content on pages. Despite the name, you do not need to use HTML code to create an HTML widget. If preferred, you can conveniently add content using CKEditor.
HTML widgets are commonly used to display:
- Approved external media items (such as YouTube videos and Datawrapper visualizations).
- Embedded content items published by your site (such as Snippets and Videos).
- Custom text, such as information and instructions.

Live stream widget
The Live stream widget lets you send a live video / audio stream to the public site. This widget receives input from the Scheduler & Template week tool in Pangea CMS.

Manual stream widget
The Manual stream widget lets you send a live video stream to the public site. This widget receives input from the Manual live stream tool in Pangea CMS.

Multimedia widget
The Multimedia widget lets you share on-demand multimedia content across the public site. A single Multimedia widget can share one content item at a time. The following content types might be shared on a Multimedia widget:
The player is available directly on the widget, so visitors can immediately start watching or listening without opening a new page. The minimized player stays available at the bottom of the page, so visitors can keep watching or listening as they navigate your site and open new pages.

Podcast widget
The Podcast widget lets you promote podcast content across the public site. Each Podcast widget is connected to one podcast (audio or video). The widget updates automatically, so it always promotes the latest episode from the podcast.
The player is available directly on the widget, so visitors can immediately start listening or watching without opening a new page. The minimized player stays available at the bottom of the page, so visitors can keep listening or watching as they navigate your site and open new pages.

Poll widget
The Poll widget lets you share Polls across the public site.
A single Poll widget can share one Poll at a time. This widget lets visitors immediately vote and check the results without opening a new page. Effective use of Polls and Poll widgets can increase audience engagement and encourage visitors to return to your site.

Subscription widget
The Subscription widget lets you promote a newsletter topic on the public site. Each Subscription widget is connected to one newsletter topic. From the Subscription widget, visitors can subscribe by entering an email address. The entered email address is then added to the mailing list for the newsletter topic.
IMPORTANT: The Subscription widget is connected to the inbuilt newsletter distribution tool in Pangea CMS. If your service uses a third-party tool for newsletter distribution (such as Mailchimp), you cannot use the Subscription widget to promote newsletter topics.

Trends widget
A Trends widget lists the current "trending" content pages from your site. This means content pages that have received a high number of views within a specified time period (based on Adobe Analytics data).
You can customize the items listed on a Trends widget as follows:
- Time period: List only items published within a specified time period.
- Content type: List only specific content types (such as Articles).
- Categories: List only items from a specific Category.
Combine these settings to create a Trends widget that is tailored for a specific audience.
