Create an Audio clip page

What's inside this article:

Basic information

This article explains how to create an Audio clip from Pangea CMS. The Audio clip content type has two main purposes:

  • Content page: An Audio clip is a standalone content page with a public URL.
  • Embed: The audio player can be embedded directly on other pages.

For details, go to the following section:

Upload an audio file

First, you need to upload the relevant audio file to Pangea CMS.

Go to Create > Multimedia > Audio clip to upload a new audio file.

For detailed information about the upload process, see the following article:

Create the main title and URL slug

Via General > Title, create the main title for the Audio clip.

After you create the title, we suggest creating a URL slug. The URL slug is included in the URL for the Audio clip page. Creating a URL slug for a content page improves usability and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Create a URL slug via General > URL slug. For detailed information, see the following article:

Select Categories

You cannot save the Audio clip until it is added to at least one Category. Categories in Pangea CMS organize the content on your site by topic. For example, your site might have a "Politics" Category for all content relating to politics.

Go to General > Categories to add the Audio clip to one or more Categories.

If you select multiple Categories, select one Primary Category. Click your chosen Primary Category so it is marked blue.

For detailed information, see the following article:

Add a Main visual

The Main visual for an Audio clip is displayed in the audio player when the Audio clip page is viewed on desktop. By default, the Main visual is also displayed in the website teaser when the Audio clip is promoted on the public site.

Go to General > Main visual > Select content to add a Main visual to the Audio clip.

For an Audio clip, the Main visual must be an image. For information about running an image search in Pangea CMS, see the following article:

After selecting a Main visual, you might perform the additional actions below:

Add the Main visual alt text

Via Main visual alt text, add alt text for the Main visual.

Alt text is a simple description of what is directly visible in an image. Alt text has many purposes. Most importantly, it is read aloud by screen readers for visually impaired visitors to your site. By adding effective alt text for images, you help make your site more accessible. For details, see the following article:

Hit the Image detail button to view the internal description and metadata for the image. This information might help you to formulate the alt text and is not displayed on the public site.

Crop the Main visual

The Main visual is automatically cropped to fit the 16:9 aspect ratio. To avoid unwanted cropping, select an image that already fits this aspect ratio. For details, see the following article:

To manually crop the image, hit the Crop the image button. You can change which portion of the image is visible, but you cannot change the aspect ratio.

Manage automatic website teaser images

The Main visual is automatically added in the Website teaser settings as the horizontal and vertical image.

To learn how to manage automatic website teaser images, see the following article:

Create an introduction

The introduction tells visitors what to expect from the content and might be displayed on a number of public pages. A content page with an effective introduction looks more attractive when it is shared and previewed. On an Audio clip page, the introduction is always displayed directly below the player.

Add the introduction via General > Introduction.

The Introduction field only supports plain text. To include links to other pages, you can instead enter content via General > Content.

Add podcast settings

If the Audio clip is a podcast episode, hit Podcast in the left panel to add the podcast settings. These settings control how the episode will be promoted via third-party podcast platforms (such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify).

IMPORTANT: Podcast settings are only available while the Category that is currently selected as the Primary Category for the Audio clip is set up for podcast distribution.

For detailed information, see the following article:

Manage other settings

The following settings are available in the left panel and might also be helpful:

  • Website teaser: Customize the website teaser for the Audio clip.
  • Social media: Customize the social media teaser for the Audio clip.
  • Authors: Add one or more authors to the Audio clip.
  • Tags: Add Tags to organize content internally.

Save and publish content

For detailed information about saving and publishing content pages in Pangea CMS, see the following article:

Share an Audio clip

Every published Audio clip is a standalone content page with its own URL. You can share and promote an Audio clip like any other content page. For example, you might share an Audio clip on a Content widget.

Alternatively, you can embed the audio player directly on other pages. This lets visitors immediately start listening without opening a new page. The following options are available:
