Embedding Pangea content

What's inside this article:

Basic information

This article explains how to insert embedded Pangea content on articles and other text content pages.

What is Pangea content?

Pangea content is any content created and published through Pangea CMS, including videos, infographics, and galleries.

Two embedding methods

Two methods are available for embedding Pangea content:

  • Direct embed: The content is normally interactive on the page. For example, readers can watch an embedded video without leaving the article.
  • See also link: The content appears as a card-style link (similar to a social media preview) that directs readers to a separate content page.

Each Pangea content type can be embedded using one or both of the methods described above:

A Stealth video is a video published with the 'Stealth published' status. It does not have a standalone content page and is not indexed by search engines. Stealth videos can be shared as direct embeds on content pages. This is useful for short, supporting content that adds to the storytelling but does not warrant a dedicated page. Learn more.

Content from other sites

The following rules apply:

  • Direct embeds: You can directly embed content from your own site. You cannot directly embed content produced by other sites.
  • See also links: You can link to content from your own site or from another site under the same entity. Note that content will appear in its original language.

Layout options: Direct embeds

When you directly embed a Pangea content item, you can choose from different layouts, depending on the type of content you are embedding:

Text content

For embedding a Backgrounder, the following layouts are available:

  • Center: The Backgrounder occupies the full content width.
  • Side: The Backgrounder is attached at the side of the content.

For detailed information about the Backgrounder content type, see the following article:

Multimedia content

For directly embedding Pangea audio content, one layout is available:

  • Big: The player occupies the full content width. Readers can listen to the audio without leaving the article.

For directly embedding a Document, one layout is available:

  • Small (with image): The embedded Document appears as an inline preview. Like a See also link, it directs readers to a separate content page. However, the distinctive layout with a 'document' icon signals that the destination is a document rather than a standard page.

A directly embedded Document.

For directly embedding a Photo gallery, the following layouts are available:

  • Big (available for all text content types): The embedded gallery occupies the full content width.
  • Jumbo (available in Feature stories): The embedded gallery is slightly wider than the content.

With either layout, readers can open the gallery in a lightbox and explore the images without leaving the article.

  • Jumbo (available in Feature stories): The embedded gallery is slightly wider than the content.

With either layout, the embedded Slider gallery appears as an inline preview. Like a See also link, it directs readers to a separate content page. However, the distinctive layout with a 'gallery' icon and 'Gallery Compare' label signals that the destination is a gallery rather than a standard page.
