Basic information

This article explains how to directly embed a content item into the body of a text content page. This lets visitors interact with the item without leaving the page. For example, you might directly embed a video on an article page. In this case, visitors can watch the video from the article page.

The steps in this article apply for Pangea content (created in Pangea). You can also directly embed external media items (such as YouTube videos). To learn about the options for external media, see the alternative article below:

You can directly embed the following Pangea content:

  • Text:
    • Backgrounder
  • Multimedia:
    • Audio clip | Audio feature | Broadcast program | Document | Photo gallery | Slider gallery | Video
  • Interactive:
    • Dynamic infographics | Poll | Quiz | Snippet | Static infographics



Embed on a text content page

You can directly embed Pangea content on the following text content pages:

  • Article
  • Blog
  • FactCheck (embed in the Verdict content)
  • Feature
  • Feature story
  • Live blog (embed in a post)
  • News
  • Transcript

Follow these steps:

  1. Click inside the main box on the Editor subpage. Position the cursor where you want to insert the item.
  2. Hit the Insert Embedded Content button in the text editor bar.
  3. Ensure Single item and Content are selected.
  4. Search for and select the item you want to embed.
  5. If prompted, select Direct embed. Then, hit Add.

You see a placeholder representing the embedded item in the text editor. Using the buttons on the placeholder, you can edit or remove the item.

To check exactly how the embedded item will look on the published page, use the options under Preview in the left panel.



Special options for Feature stories

Feature story is a special content type, intended for visual storytelling. Special size options are available for direct embeds on Feature story pages.

When you directly embed a Video, choose from the following size options:

  • Large
  • Jumbo

When you directly embed a Dynamic infographic or a Snippet, choose from the following size options:

  • (A): Large
  • (B): Jumbo
  • (C): Full-size
