What's new?

Pangea AI for title suggestions

Pangea AI is a generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) tool, which can suggest clear and descriptive titles to match your content.

The suggestions from Pangea AI provide a helpful starting point for title creation. Editors are free to adjust the suggested text before publication, or use the suggestions only as inspiration.

We are happy to announce that the BETA version of Pangea AI is now ready for further testing and evaluation with selected pilot services. After the 8.38 release, we will start working closely with pilot services to prepare Pangea AI for general release.

The title suggestions from Pangea AI are based on the following input:

  • Body text: The unique body text for the story.
  • Prompt: The prompt for Pangea AI title suggestions. Each service can use the global (default) prompt or create a local (custom) prompt. To ensure a standard approach, Pangea AI uses one prompt for all requests from the same service. Editors cannot create unique prompts for individual stories.

Season and episode labels for video podcasts

We have added Podcast settings to the Video edit page in Pangea CMS. The same settings are already available on the Audio clip edit page. In the Podcast settings, you can add the following season / episode labels:

  • Episode type (Full, Bonus, or Trailer)
  • Season number (For "Serial" podcasts)
  • Episode number (For "Serial" podcasts)

These options are useful for podcast content.

NOTE: Different season / episode labels are available, depending on the type of podcast (Serial or Episodic). Learn more.

The season / episode labels (added in Pangea CMS) will be visible on third-party podcast platforms (such as Apple Podcasts). The labels will not be visible on Pangea websites.

Podcast settings are only available if the Primary Category for the Video has already been set up for podcast distribution. For detailed information about this process, see the following article:

Create new posts while a Live blog is locked

We have optimized Live blog behavior in Pangea CMS to bring better support for cooperative workflows, where multiple CMS users contribute to the same Live blog.

After the 8.38 release, each Blog post will be treated as an independent content item in Pangea CMS (separate from the central Live blog edit page). This means that if the Live blog edit page is locked for editing by one CMS user, another user will still have the option to add a new post or update an existing post.

If the central Live blog edit page is locked for editing, the following options will still be available on the main Search page in Pangea CMS:

  • Select + Add new post to create a new post.
  • Select See posts to manage / edit existing posts.

Copy unpublished content

Pangea CMS supports cross-site copying between partner websites under the same entity. Currently, copying is only available for published content.

After the 8.38 release, we will extend the copying functionality in Pangea CMS to also support copying for unpublished content. The extended copying functionality will be available on request. Contact Pangea Customer Care if your site would like the option to copy unpublished content.

If extended copying is enabled, your site will have the option to copy content with the following statuses:

  • (A): Published
  • (B): Scheduled (NEW)
  • (C): Edited (NEW)

This change supports coordinated publication, where all versions of the same story (original and copies) need to be published at the same time across multiple websites.

IMPORTANT: If you copy an unpublished story, you should publish your copy at the same time as or after the original story. If the copy is published first, SEO for the original story can be negatively impacted. Learn more.

When you copy a story that has the Scheduled status, your copy inherits the same publication settings as the original story. This automates publication, ensuring that the copy and the original are automatically published at the same time.

Truth Social added to supported external media

We have added Truth Social to the list of supported external media in Pangea CMS. This means that editors can embed Truth Social posts on articles and other text content pages using just an embed code.

"Project marking" for special projects (RFE/RL World)

Project marking is a new feature, which will allow services to mark stories that are part of a special project. We are introducing this feature to support the "RFE/RL World" project, which highlights the most impactful stories published across all RFE/RL services.

For services participating in RFE/RL World, Project marking will work as follows:

  • In Pangea CMS: Editors can add selected content to the RFE/RL World project. A new control is available via General > Project marking. The list of supported content types for Project marking is available here.
  • On public pages: Stories that are part of RFE/RL World will show the RFE/RL World project mark. This mark has already been created by the Pangea Design team, including localized versions for all participating language services.

The project mark will be displayed:

  • On the Main visual at the top of the content page (if the Main visual is an image).
  • On the website teaser image for the story (displayed in the preview for the story on the public site).
  • On the social media image for the story (displayed in the preview for the story on social media platforms and search engine results pages).

Project marking will be available on request for new special projects. If an entity or service would like to set up a new special project for Project marking, your Digital Strategy team should contact Pangea Customer Care. We will be happy to assist with setup, including the design and technical implementation.
