What is external media?

Insert external media

To insert external media on a text content page:

  1. Select Editor in the left menu.
  2. In the text editor, position the cursor where you want to insert the item.
  3. Click the Insert embedded content button in the toolbar.
  4. On the Search & attach dialog, select External media.
  5. Under Embed code or URL, paste the embed code or sharing URL.
  6. Under Personal note, enter a short description of the item (optional).
  7. Click Attach.

A placeholder for the external media now appears in the text editor.

To check how the external media will look on the page after publication, select a device under Preview in the left menu: Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile.

NOTE: The preview includes unsaved changes. You do not need to save changes before checking them in the preview.

Insert media from an unsupported external platform

For the list of supported platforms, see Basic information.

If you want to insert media from another platform, two options are available:

Create a snippet

'Snippet' is a content type in Pangea CMS for creating custom embeds.

You can create a snippet to share external media on your website. Each snippet contains one external media item. When you create the snippet, paste the embed code for the item under Code.

After the snippet is approved and published, you can insert it on text content pages as a direct embed. You can reuse a snippet on multiple pages.

For detailed information, see the following articles:

Request support for a new platform

In rare cases, we add new platforms to the supported list. We only approve new platforms that offer clear, long-term benefits for several language services. We do not approve new platforms for single projects.

To request support for a new platform, contact Pangea Customer Care.

TIP: For a single project, create a snippet instead.
