Basic information
Teaser settings generate the preview of a content page that is visible at widget level. Below, you can see some examples of how content pages are previewed on widgets:
When Manual mode is enabled in the widget settings, you can customize the teaser settings for any content page that is promoted on the widget. This option is available for the following widgets:
- Breaking news widgets
- Content widgets
- FactCheck widgets
- Multimedia widgets
- Poll widgets
- Slide-in widgets
Create or edit a widget
Add teaser settings while you create a new widget. Alternatively, update the teaser settings on a widget that is already published. For basic information about creating and editing widgets, see the following article:
Update teaser settings
To update the teaser settings for a content page that is promoted on a widget:
- Go to the Content section on the widget edit screen and ensure Manual or Semi-auto mode is enabled.
- Hit Add teaser / Edit teaser in the item box.
- In the Add teaser / Edit teaser window, adjust the teaser settings according to your preferences. Information about the different options is available here:
Choose your preferred option to save the changes:
- Save as Widget teaser: Apply the changes on the current widget only. This option is only available for the following widgets:
- Breaking news
- Content
- Slide-in
- Save as Website teaser: Apply the changes on the current widget and also in the universal Website teaser settings for the content item. Selecting this option will impact how the item is previewed on other pages.
The changes are visible on the widget edit screen but will not be permanently applied until you hit Save or Save & close.
About teaser settings
You can add the following elements in the Add teaser / Edit teaser window:
Title
Under Title, enter the clickable headline that will be visible in the widget preview.
Introduction
Under Introduction, enter a brief introductory text that might be visible in the widget preview.
The introduction will be visible on the widget if the layout supports introductions and Display introduction is enabled in the widget Layout settings.
Label
Under Label, enter a custom label that might be visible in the widget preview. Labels are commonly topics (such as Politics or Sport) and help to categorize the items on a widget.
The label will be visible on the widget if Label is selected under Display Category/Date/Label in the widget Layout settings.
Horizontal image
Under Horizontal image, select an image that will be visible in the widget preview if the widget uses horizontal images.
The following options are also available:
- Horizontal image caption: Set the alt text for the image.
- Horizontal image description: Review the internal image description (not visible on the public site).
Vertical image
Under Vertical image, select an image that will be visible in the widget preview if the widget uses vertical images.
The following options are also available:
- Vertical image caption: Set the alt text for the image.
- Vertical image description: Review the internal image description (not visible on the public site).
Loop video
Add a loop video that might be visible in the widget preview instead of an image.
The loop video will be visible on the widget if the layout supports loop videos and Display Loop video is enabled in the widget Layout settings.
Remove teaser settings
If you need to remove the teaser settings:
- Hit Edit teaser.
- Select the relevant option:
- Remove widget teaser: Remove the teaser settings on the current widget only.
- Remove article teaser: Remove the universal Website teaser settings for the content item. Selecting this option will impact how the item is previewed on other pages.
- The changes are visible on the edit screen but will not be permanently applied until you hit Save or Save & close.
