Customize a widget teaser

What's inside this article:

Basic information

A widget teaser is a simple preview for a story that is displayed on a widget. A widget teaser might include various elements (headline, image, introduction, and more).

For each story on a widget, Pangea can generate a default widget teaser. The default teaser shows elements from the general metadata for the story. When you build or update a widget using "Manual" mode, you can customize the default teasers by replacing some or all of the visible elements. For example, you might add a shorter headline to replace the general title for a story.

How do I edit a widget teaser?

You might customize the widget teaser for a story when you edit the following widget types in Pangea CMS:

  • Breaking news
  • Content
  • Slide-in

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Content section on the widget edit page.
  2. Select Add teaser / Edit teaser in the item box.
  3. Add your custom elements.
  4. Select Update widget teaser / Update website teaser. These options are explained here:

NOTE: The change will not be applied on the public site until you also click Save / Save & close on the widget edit page.

Is this option available for all widgets?

What is the difference between "Widget teaser" and "Website teaser"?

When you customize a widget teaser, you can choose from the following options:

  • Update widget teaser: Your settings will be applied on the current widget only.
  • Update website teaser: Your settings will be applied on the current widget and will also replace the default "Website teaser" settings for the story. This means that your settings might be displayed on other widgets and pages where the story is shared.
