Create a Live blog post

Basic information

This article explains how to publish posts on a Live blog page. For general information the Live blog content type in Pangea CMS, see the alternative article below:



Complete required settings

You cannot add posts to a Live blog until the following conditions are met:

  • The main title is provided.
  • At least one Category is selected.
  • The Live blog is saved.

Add a new post

Add a new post using one of the methods below:

  • On the Live blog edit screen, select + New post.
  • Via Search in Pangea CMS, select New blog entry (the plus icon).



Add post settings

Add title

If you provide a title, the title is displayed above the published post. Providing a title for a Live blog post is not required.

To add a title, first tick the box next to Display title. You can then enter the title in the Blog post title box.


Add highlight title

You can add a special title that is only displayed in highlights.

To add a highlights title, first tick the box next to Custom highlight title. You can then enter the title in the Highlight title box.

Add an author

You can add an author to an individual post. The name of the author is displayed above the published post.

Select an author via the Authors drop-down menu.

Before you can add an author to a content page, the author needs to be included on the list of approved authors for your site. You can add a new author to the approved list from Pangea CMS. For details, see the following article:


Feature the post

Tick the box next to Feature this post to pin the post to the top of the Live blog page for a set number of minutes. While a post is featured, all new posts appear below the featured post. Next to Feature this post, enter for how long the post will remain featured (in minutes).

A Live blog can have one featured post at a time.



Create content

Under Content, add content for the post using CKEditor.

Add text

The following options are available for adding text:

  • Enter text manually.
  • Paste text from a third-party word processor (such as Microsoft Word).

The CKEditor bar includes many useful tools for adding and formatting text. For details, see the following article:


Add embedded content

A Live blog post might include the following types of embedded content:

  • Internal images: Images that have been manually uploaded to Pangea CMS by you or another CMS user.
  • External images: Images from the following external agencies:
    • AFP (Agence France-Presse)
    • AP (Associated Press)
    • Reuters
  • External media: Approved external media items (such as Facebook and Telegram posts).
  • Content items: Content items published by your site (such as Videos and Audio clips).
  • See Also links: See also links to other content pages published by your site.

To get started, position the cursor where you want to insert the embedded item. Then, hit the Insert embedded content button.

Save and publish

When you are satisfied with the post, hit Save & publish.

If the status of the Live blog is Published, the post is displayed on the public site after you perform this action.
