New Disqus commenting system
With the release of Pangea CMS 8.16, we will begin rollout of the new Disqus commenting system
Disqus offers the following benefits:
- For website users:
- Dynamic real-time discussions including upvotes, downvotes, threaded replies, and more.
- Comment from anywhere with support for desktop and mobile web. In the future — mobile apps and Google AMP.
- For moderators:
- User reputation: Identify trolls, spammers, and other unwanted users based on their previous behavior across the Disqus network.
- Pre-moderation: Every comment must be approved before it is published.
- Email moderation: Conveniently moderate new comments via email notifications.
- Banned and trusted lists: Manage lists of banned and trusted users. Comments from banned users do not appear, while comments from trusted users are approved automatically.
- Timeout: Temporarily ban users and provide feedback so they can adjust their behavior.
- Shadow banning: Ban users without their knowledge so they won't return with a new email address.
Visit the Disqus website for more information.
In the coming months, Disqus will fully replace both Pangea Comments and Facebook Comments.
Rollout for the new Disqus commenting system is planned as follows:
- July: Sites with Pangea Comments enabled will be reconfigured to use Disqus.
- August - September: Sites with Facebook Comments enabled will be reconfigured to use Disqus.
By the end of September, we aim for all Pangea sites be using Disqus.
New Document BETA upload tool
We’ve created the brand-new Document BETA upload tool that matches the look and feel of the redesigned Video and Audio Clip upload tools.
You can access Document BETA via New > Multimedia > Document BETA.
Document BETA offers the following benefits:
- Pangea CMS can now upload two documents in parallel.
- Start the upload from any edit screen in Pangea CMS and continue working while the upload runs in the background.
- Conveniently manage uploads via the Upload manager.
The maximum file size you can upload is 35 MB. Supported file types are the same as for the classic Document upload tool (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .txt, .pdf, .rtf, xml, .csv, .epub).
For more information, see our dedicated support article.
New Document BETA edit screen
We've created the brand-new Document BETA edit screen that matches the look and feel of the redesigned Video and Audio Clip edit screens.
To open the Document BETA edit screen for an existing Document:
- Click the title of any Document on the search results page.
- Click Edit (BETA) (the white pencil icon).
If you experience issues using the new Document BETA edit screen, you can open the classic edit screen via Edit (the blue pencil icon).
For more information, see our dedicated support article.
Audio Clip BETA now default
Audio Clip BETA is now the default tool for uploading and editing audio clips.
This means the following changes:
- Audio Clip BETA is renamed to Audio Clip throughout the Pangea CMS user interface.
- The classic Audio Clip upload and edit tool is no longer available.
- When you edit an existing audio clip, you see the redesigned edit screen.
- When you clone an audio clip, you see the redesigned edit screen.
For more information, see our dedicated support articles:
Datawrapper visualizations display via Google AMP
Datawrapper visualizations now display correctly on Google AMP pages. Google AMP is a quick-loading page version that may be displayed when you access a page via Google search on a mobile device.
To ensure that a Datawrapper visualization displays via Google AMP, you need to attach it via the External media tab on the Attach dialog. For detailed instructions, refer to the following article:
New help buttons
We’ve added Help buttons on additional screens in Pangea CMS. When you click Help, a relevant support article opens in a new tab.
Help buttons now appear on the following screens that are all available via Scheduler > Scheduler & Template week:
- Scheduler
- Template week
- Edit Broadcast program
- Edit Video show
Removal of the Distribution Profiles screen
Because the Distribution Profiles feature is no longer used by any Pangea sites, we have removed the Distribution Profiles screen that was previously available via Administration > Content Distribution.
