Uploading a document


NOTE: This article applies for the Document BETA upload tool. If you experience issues using Document BETA, refer to the Troubleshooting section in this article.


Pangea CMS lets you upload a single document or multiple documents simultaneously using the Document BETA tool.

Upload a single document

TIP: You can start the upload process from any page in Pangea CMS. For example, you can upload a document from the article edit screen, then continue writing the article while the document uploads in the background.


To upload a single document to Pangea CMS:

  1. Click New > Multimedia > Document BETA in the top menu.
  2. Select the file you want to upload using either method below:
    • Click the file that you want to upload and drag and drop it into the box.
    • Click Browse files and navigate to the location on your device where the file is saved. Double-click the file.

The Upload document dialog changes to Document edit as soon as the upload starts.

The following options are available:



Start editing

You can start configuring the settings for the document while the upload is in progress. For information about the options available on the Document edit screen, refer to the following article:



Let the document upload in the background

Optionally click Close to close the Document edit screen and let the upload complete in the background.

You can edit the document later using either method below:

  • Click the Upload manager icon in the top-right corner of Pangea CMS. Hover your cursor over the relevant panel and click Edit (the pencil icon).
  • Find the document using the Pangea CMS Search tool. The document is saved with the status Draft and the title matches the name of the document file.

For information about the options available on the Document edit screen, refer to the following article:

IMPORTANT: The Upload manager is available for 10 minutes after the file finishes uploading. After this time the Upload manager icon disappears and you need to find the file using the Pangea CMS Search tool.

The Upload manager also disappears if you close and then reopen Pangea CMS.



Upload multiple documents

TIP: You can start the upload process from any page in Pangea CMS. For example, you can upload a batch of documents from the article edit screen, then continue writing the article while the documents upload in the background.


To upload multiple documents to Pangea CMS:

  1. Click New > Multimedia > Document BETA in the top menu.
  2. Select the files you want to upload using either method below:
    • Ensure all the files you want to upload are selected, and drag and drop the files into the box.
    • Click Browse files and navigate to the location on your device where the files are saved. Select all the files you want to upload and click Open.
NOTE: Pangea CMS can upload up to two documents in parallel. You can select more than two documents for upload, but the third document will not start uploading until one of the first two files is fully uploaded.


The Upload document dialog disappears and the Upload manager appears in the top-right corner of Pangea CMS.

The following options are available:



Start editing

NOTE: You can only start editing documents that show the status Uploading or Uploaded in the Upload manager.

Let the documents upload in the background

To minimize the Upload manager and let the uploads complete in the background, click elsewhere on the screen. When the Upload manager is minimized, you can re-open it by clicking the Upload manager icon in the top panel.

You can edit a document later using either method below:

  • Click the Upload manager icon in the top-right corner of Pangea CMS. Hover your cursor over the relevant panel and click Edit (the pencil icon).
  • Find the document using the Pangea CMS Search tool. The document is saved with the status Draft and the title matches the name of the document file.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues using the Document BETA upload tool, it is possible to use the classic upload tool instead. To access the classic upload tool, click New > Multimedia > Document in the top menu.
