Dynamic infographics and snippets - Upgrade to CMS8
We've upgraded the dynamic infographic and snippet edit pages to CMS8 is our latest design and development strategy for pages in Pangea CMS. Learn more..
This upgrade offers improved speed, performance, and usability, with a more modern look and feel.
Gradual release
The new edit pages are initially available for selected pilot services. If the pilot testing doesn't identify any serious issues, we will enable the new edit pages for all language services around 2 weeks later.

New notifications
New notification events simplify the approval process for dynamic infographics and snippets. For details, see the following section:
History dialog - List of changes
For some content types, the History dialog now includes a list of changes for each version. This shows which settings changed.
Applies to the following content types:
- Text: Article, Blog, Feature, Feature story, News, Transcript
- Interactive: Dynamic infographic, Snippet
To see the list of changes for a particular version, click the down arrow next to that version.

Embedded galleries - Option to hide captions
When you embed a gallery, you can now hide the captions. If you do not want to show captions below the images, untick the box next to Display image captions.
Applies to the following content types:
- Multimedia: Photo gallery, Slider gallery
This option is useful when the surrounding text already provides enough context for the gallery.

Embedded galleries - Truncation for longer captions
Longer image captions in embedded galleries are now truncated. Only the first part of the caption is visible by default. Readers can click Show more to see the full caption.
Applies to the following content types:
- Multimedia: Photo gallery, Slider gallery
NOTE: The website automatically truncates captions that are longer than three lines.
This means that a large gap no longer appears on the page when one caption in the gallery is longer than the others.
New character counter in Pangea CMS
When creating a gallery in Pangea CMS, editors can now see the number of characters used in each caption. This can help editors keep captions within the three-line limit and avoid truncation.
Audio narration - Button improvements
To improve the visibility and clarity of the audio narration feature for readers on content pages, we've made the following updates to the button:
- The button now appears directly above the body text.
- The button is now larger, with a more eye-catching design.
- The default button label is now 'Listen to this article' instead of 'Listen'.

Update localization
If your website uses the audio narration feature, update your local version of the button label from the Site localization page in Pangea CMS. Use the following key:

PDF download - Link to the original content
PDF downloads of text content pages now include a link to the original content. This allows readers to:
- Verify the source of the document.
- Open the latest version of the content.
- View embedded content (such as videos and galleries), which appear as static images in the PDF.
Update localization
If your website uses the PDF download feature, update your local version of the link text from the Site localization page in Pangea CMS. Use the following key:

Share navigation - Option to add Threads
The Share navigation on content pages can now include a Threads button.
To add Threads to your Share navigation, contact Pangea Customer Care.
In your request, let us know:
- Where you want the Threads button to appear relative to your existing Share buttons.
- The button label, if you want something other than Threads.
Dynamic infographics and snippets - New notification options
In your Pangea CMS user account, you can now enable notifications for the following events:
- Dynamic infographic and snippet approval requests: We notify you when someone requests approval for a dynamic infographic or snippet. This only applies on sites where you have approval rights for dynamic infographics and snippets.
- My approved dynamic infographics and snippets: We notify you when someone approves a dynamic infographic or snippet that you created.
You can receive notifications through one or both of the following channels:
- Pangea message: You receive a notification inside Pangea CMS.
- Email: You receive an email notification to the email address you use to log in to Pangea CMS.
By default, some of these notifications are already enabled for you. The following rules apply:

Live blog - Automatic changes to 'Last update'
The following behavior now applies on published live blog pages:
- When the first post is published, the Updated timestamp appears on the page. It shows when the post was published.
- Every time a new post is published, the timestamp changes automatically to match the time of the latest post.

This happens automatically. You do not need to tick Last update or manually change the timestamp in Pangea CMS.
This change saves time for editors who manage live blog pages and ensures that readers can always see when the page was last updated.
Bigger images to help content appear in Google Discover
Google Discover is a personalized feed in the Google Android app. Discover recommends content based on the user’s interests, search history, location data, and more. For more information, see Google's blog post:
To increase the chances of content appearing in Google Discover, Google recommends providing an image that is at least 1200px wide. We've updated the metadata for content pages to include an image that meets this requirement. This change happens in the code and does not impact the size of the image that appears on the page.
