TIP: You can start the upload process from any screen in Pangea CMS. For example, you can upload a file from the Article edit screen, then continue writing the article while the file uploads in the background.

What's inside this article:

Upload a single video file

  1. Click New > Multimedia > Video in the top menu.
  2. Select the file you want to upload using either method below:
    • Click the file that you want to upload and drag and drop it into the box.
    • Click Browse files and navigate to the location on your device where the file is saved. Double-click the file.

The Upload video dialog changes to Video edit as soon as the upload starts. You can immediately start editing the Video while the upload is in progress. Alternatively, click Close to close the edit screen and let the upload complete in the background. This article explains how to find the Video later.

Upload multiple video files

  1. Click New > Multimedia > Video in the top menu.
  2. Select the files you want to upload using either method below:
    • Ensure all the files you want to upload are selected, and drag and drop the files into the box.
    • Click Browse files and navigate to the location on your device where the files are saved. Select all the files you want to upload and click Open.
NOTE: Pangea CMS can upload up to four video files simultaneously. You can select more than four video files for upload, but the fifth file will not start uploading until one of the first four files is fully uploaded.

The Upload video dialog disappears and the Upload manager appears in the top-right corner of Pangea CMS. You can immediately start editing a Video while the upload is in progress. Hover your cursor over the relevant panel and click Edit (the pencil icon).

Alternatively, click elsewhere on the screen to minimize the Upload manager and let the uploads complete in the background. This article explains how to find a Video later.

Find a Video

NOTE: After it is fully uploaded and processed, a Video is automatically saved in Pangea CMS with the status Draft. The title matches the name of the video file.

The following options are available for finding a Video that was already uploaded to Pangea CMS:

Upload manager

Click the Upload manager icon in the top-right corner of Pangea CMS. Hover your cursor over the relevant panel and click Edit (the pencil icon).

The Upload manager in Pangea CMS is not always available. The following rules apply:

  • The Upload manager icon is visible for 10 minutes after the last file finishes uploading. After this time, the Upload manager icon disappears.
  • If you close and then reopen Pangea CMS, the Upload manager icon disappears.

If the Upload manager icon is not visible, you can use a different method to find and edit the uploaded files.

Notification

After a Video is fully uploaded and processed, you may receive a notification within Pangea CMS and / or an email notification. Click the Pangea link to start editing the Video.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Video edit screen and click General in the left panel.
  2. In the Title box, enter a title for the Video.
  3. Use the Categories drop-down menu to assign the Video to one or more Categories.
  4. If you want the Video to be available on the public website immediately after you save it, use the drop-down menu at the top of the screen to set the status to Published.
  5. Click Save or Save & close to confirm and apply your preferences.

The Video is now created. If the status is Published, the Video is also available on the public website.

If you need to edit the Video later, you can find it using the Pangea CMS Search tool.

Check upload progress

You can check the upload progress on the Video edit screen. Click Video in the left panel.

You see one of the following options in the Preview window:

  • Uploading: The file is currently uploading. You see the progress of the upload.
  • Processing: The file is uploaded, and Pangea CMS is currently encoding it. During encoding, multiple versions of the file are created. These files allow the Video to be played on different devices and in different levels of quality.
  • Playback options: When the file is fully uploaded and processed, the Preview window lets you play the Video.
