Basic information
Using the Trim tool in Pangea CMS, you can cut unnecessary content from the start and / or the end of a video file. This article explains how to trim a video file that has already been uploaded to Pangea CMS.
For general information about working with videos, see the following articles:
How does trimming work?
You can only trim a video file that is fully uploaded and processed. For details, see the following article:
After you trim a video file, Pangea CMS creates a new (trimmed) version of the video with a separate edit screen. The new edit screen opens automatically in a new tab. On the edit screen for the new trimmed video:
- The title matches the original with [TRIMMED] - added at the start.
- The status is Draft.
- All saved settings from the original (untrimmed) video are applied (except for the Multimedia distribution settings).
The edit screen for the original (untrimmed) video remains open. The original video is not removed from Pangea CMS or changed in any way.
Trim a video file
IMPORTANT: Ensure you save the video before you trim the video file. Unsaved settings are not transfered to the new (trimmed) video.
To trim a video:
- Find the Video on the main Search screen in Pangea CMS. For information about running a content search, see the following article:
- Select the Video.
- If needed, use the Preview to identify the required start time / end time for the new trimmed video:
- New start time: All preceding content will be cut in the trimmed video.
- New end time: All following content will be cut in the trimmed video.
- Hit Trim.
- Enter the new Start time and End time, then select + Save as new.
The edit screen for the new (trimmed) video opens in a new tab. Pangea CMS now needs to upload and process the trimmed version of the video file.
