Basic information
This article explains how you can add new data from Template week to Scheduler.
For an introduction to Scheduler & Template week, see the alternative article below:
Wait for automatic updates
Pangea automatically adds new data to Scheduler on a regular basis. This process works basically as follows:
- At the end of every day, Pangea takes the Template week data for the same day and adds this data to Scheduler on the same day but two weeks in the future.
- The new Template week data overwrites any existing data in Scheduler.
See the example below:
- It is the end of the day on Monday, March 1st. Pangea CMS takes the current Template week data for Monday.
- In Scheduler, Pangea adds the "Monday" data from Template week as the schedule for Monday, March 14th.
- The new data from Template week overwrites any previous data that was added in Scheduler for Monday, March 14th.
If you need the data from Template week to be added in Scheduler on dates sooner than two weeks in the future, you can manually update Scheduler. For detailed instructions, go to the following section:
Manually update Scheduler
You can manually add new data from Template week to Scheduler. This option is useful if you make changes in Template week, and you want to immediately add the changes to Scheduler.
NOTE: If you are managing an audio tube with scheduled repeats, review the information under Avoid removal of repeats.
To manually update Scheduler:
- Go to Template week and select Update Scheduler.
- Define the time period for the update. The data from Template week will overwrite the current data in Scheduler for each day during the defined time period. Provide the following details:
- Start date: The first date when data from Template week will be added. It is not possible to select the current day.
- End date: The last date when data from Template week will be added.
- Click Update.
The new data from Template week is added in Scheduler during your defined time period.
Avoid removal of repeats
NOTE: This information applies only for audio tubes with scheduled repeats.
If the time period that you define for a manual update includes a repeat of a Broadcast program but not the original Broadcast program, the repeat will not be added to Scheduler during the update. You will see an empty slot in the schedule instead of the repeat.
See the example below:
- The original Broadcast program is scheduled in Scheduler for September 1st.
- A repeat is scheduled in Scheduler for September 2nd.
- You trigger a manual update of Scheduler. You define the time period for the update as September 2nd - September 10th.
- The repeat on September 2nd will not be added to Scheduler. This is because the time period for the update does not include date of the original Broadcast program (September 1st).
The following solutions are available:
- If possible, let Pangea CMS update Scheduler automatically. This issue does not occur during automatic updates.
- If possible, ensure the time period for the manual update includes the date of the original Broadcast program.
- If neither of the above solutions are possible, you will need to manually create the repeat(s) in Scheduler after running the update.
