Basic information
An Audio feature is a short clip recorded from a Broadcast program (audio show). For example, an Audio feature might include just the opening 2 minutes of a program. Each Audio feature is a standalone content page with a public URL. Audio features can also be shared as embedded content on other pages. For example, you might embed an Audio feature into the body of an Article page.
This article explains how to create an Audio feature.
For general information about Broadcast programs, see the alternative articles below:
Create an Audio feature
IMPORTANT: Create the Audio feature at latest 10 minutes before the start time for the Broadcast program. Otherwise, recording might not work.
To create an Audio feature:
- Go to Stream > Scheduler & Template week.
- Under Tubes, ensure the correct audio tube for the stream is selected.
- Ensure the correct view is selected:
- Scheduler: Create a one-off Audio feature that will be recorded once.
- Template week: Create a regular Audio feature that will be recorded every week.
- Click the Broadcast program in the schedule and hit Edit.
- Scroll to Audio features, and select + Add feature.
- Define the Audio feature settings, then hit Add.
- Select Save. The Audio feature will not be created unless you perform this step.
The Audio feature is now created. After the Broadcast program finishes:
- The Audio feature will automatically be published and available as on-demand content on the public site.
- The Audio feature will be searchable as a standalone content item in Pangea CMS.
From Scheduler & Template week, you can quickly see which Broadcast programs have at least one Audio feature. Under Display options, select Has feature(s). While this option is selected, Broadcast programs with features are marked blue.
Add Audio feature settings
The following settings are available for each Audio feature:
- Title: Add a title for the Audio feature that will be displayed on the public site.
- Description: Add a description for the Audio feature that will be displayed on the public site.
- Categories: Select at least one Category. The Audio feature will be shared on the Category page for each selected Category.
- Hide download link: If this option is ticked, the Audio feature will not have a download link on the public site (visitors will not be able to download the Audio feature).
- Record: Tick this option. If this option is not ticked, the Audio feature will not be recorded.
- Start time: Set the time when recording will start. The time is relative to the start of the Broadcast program. For example, if you select 00:00:00, the Audio feature will start recording from the start of the Broadcast program.
- End time: Set the time when recording will stop. The time is relative to the start of the Broadcast program. For example, if you select 00:02:00, the Audio feature will stop recording after the first 2 minutes of the Broadcast program.
- Status: Select "Published" if you want the Audio feature to be available on the public site.
- Share on USAGM Direct: Control sharing on the USAGM Direct website.
