To improve user experience and news consumption we present News Layout for Zone Archive page.
All items from Zone will be displayed in following format:
- Main Media element
- First Paragraph
- Faded second paragraph
It will be possible to open a content item directly on the Zone Archive page (if this Zone is primary for this item). However, when this zone layout is selected, the individual items are no longer displayed independently, but rather as a part of a content stream.
This means that the item which was opened will be displayed at the top, with all of the other content following in chronological order after it. Every item on page has a unique URL, which makes it possible shared, added to widget.
While the layout is best suited for News content type, it can also be used to display any other content type in a given zone.
To set up this layout - you need to choose it on Zone Settings → Archive page layout → Latest news layout.
In order to localise the phrase "See all News Updates of the Day", you can use the config key: Responsive.ZoneArchive.NewsLayoutItemsTitle
This feature will help you to highlight big news stories which have a lot of relevant content.
New layout for Content widget "Top Story Package" will help you create content package on your Section page by allowing you to pick several stories and present them as a connected content, dedicated to specific topic. It is supported across all column layouts.
While the widget is set up to work in Auto mode, we would suggest to use it in Manual mode to get the best results - main story and several related stories like a part of the package.
In CMS in can be found as Top Story package layout for Content widget.
As you remember in one of previous releases we delivered "Also read" feature. But only some content types were available to be added as "Also read" link.
We've reviewed all content types which can be either embedded or added as "Also read", and now it will be possible to:
|Content Type||Add as "Also read"||Add as Embed|
We improved UI of CMS for embedding content - it will help you to pick necessary option (to embed or to add as "Also read") in one click:
To improve the workflow for static infographics publishing and to improve design of static infographics pages we present new content type and new layout:
This new content type is called "Static infographics". It is intended to simplify the creation of infographics which primarily consist of an embedded image. To cut down on the need to create and adjust html code where an image URL is then inserted, it will now be possible to select the image directly and the rest of the code will be added by Pangea CMS.
For this type of infographic it will be possible to insert one or several images, as well as to enable or disable the title and introduction, as well as add a teaser.
As the aforementioned processes of creating HTML will be automated, it will mean that infographics can be created and updated without any need for approval. It can then be embedded into an article as a GDB image, an embedded preview, or as an "Also read" link.
We keep all current implementation of infographics; it is available under Dynamic Infographics content type.
New content type can be found in CMS under:
- New → Interactive → Static Infographics
In search results on the site it can be found under "Infographics" tab.
Byline option for authors is now available for all services. By default this option is disabled, but services can enable it and localize it.
