In this release we added some desired features to the Responsive Design, including multiple tubes option for the Audio navigation, adding the Author page and the Mailing List, and introduced Live Highlights. We improved the Social media features and added the Direct localization. More in Release Notes.
For those services which have more than one audio channel, we have added the list of all available channels into the homepage Audio navigation bar.
Author's page on Responsive
This page allows the public to learn about the author, access the latest content, subscribe to hers/his RSS feed, and follow the author on Facebook or Twitter (both for Desktop and Responsive).
You can set up the social buttons for following the author in CMS on the Author page. Here, a personal Facebook page ID and Twitter name needs to be filled in.
Responsive users have now the option to subscribe to variety of email campaigns via setting up the Subscription page.
Live Stream Highlights
One of the main and most wanted improvements of this Responsive version is the option to promote Live Audio and Video via the Live Stream Highlights feature. If there is a live streaming, the users will be notified by a live bar which indicates what program is live at the moment. On a click user will get to the player.
For most of the social media types we added new feature - Social Media Teaser. This allows you to define the Image and Title of your content for the purposes of sharing on social media.
Here is how it looks like during sharing:
Twitter Summary Card
This cards features a large, full-width image alongside the tweet, which allows the reader to see the photo properly and, after clicking on the photo, brings him to your website.
Polls and Youtube
From this release on, your audience will have the option to share their poll voting via various social networks (Facebook, Vkontakte, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest). We have also added the options to embed YouTube playlist and enabled the full screen option.
For the Direct pages - direct.rferl.org - we have added the option to Localize your page. This can be done via localization keys. If you would like to contribute to direct, please find more information in Direct guide.
