We want Pangea TV to become a universal streaming solution for all our services. Following the enormous amount of feedback from our user, we want to introduce you to YouTube integration for Pangea TV in 6.26 release.
This guide will cover the live YouTube streaming. It has two parts - setting the Pangea TV Show in Pangea, and then streaming it live on YouTube.
Creating the Pangea TV Show in Video Scheduler
Open the "Scheduler > Video Scheduler" menu item, click the "Add" link in the current time slot and choose the "Single Live Input" show type. You will be taken to the following page:
Name your show, set the time (time should correspond with the time of your YouTube stream), set the zone do not forget to check the "Youtube Broadcast" and select your Youtube Account (if you have no account set up or the option to set Youtube broadcast does not appear, contact us and we will set it up for you).
Then click the "Add Live Input" button below. Set the desired live input type, name your input and click the "Add" button below. When input has been added, click the "Edit" icon in the actions column of your input. The page should look like this:
With the input RTMP settings (visible at the bottom of the live input details), we can now set our encoder (we recommend Flash Media Live Encoder, Wirecast or Tricaster).
Setting the Encoder
Keep in mind that YouTube streaming only supports the encoders with capablity to stream the video using the H.264/AVC video and Mp3/AAC audio encoding. We recommend using Flash Media Live Encoder, Wirecast, or Tricaster. For the purposes of this tutorial, we will use the Wirecast streaming solution.
Start the application and open the streaming settings (Output > Output Settings using the Wirecast). Copy and paste the RTMP settings from Video Scheduler show into the Encoder (Pangea Server URL (public) as Address and Stream Name as Stream). The settings page should look like this:
The most important part, is to set the encoding settings with standards supported by YouTube. The supported encoding settings are following:
- Video Codec: H.264 / AVC
- Audio Codec: Mp3 or AAC
- Keyframe Interval: 2 x framerate
- Interlacing: Deinterlaced
- Keyframe Alignment: Aligned
- Resolution: 1920 x 1080
- Bitrate: 4500 Bps
When you're done setting the encoding settings, you can start streaming with your encoder. At this moment, live streaming should be already visible on Pangea web site. Now we need to make sure that YouTube stream is estabilished...
Open the "Live Control Room" on YouTube live event page. The stream is send from Pangea directly to your YouTube channel, the page should look like this:
Now click the "Preview" button and wait for YouTube to prepare the stream. When stream is ready, click the "Start Streaming" button. The page should look like this:
The stream should look like this on YouTube:
You have successfully established live stream from Pangea TV to YouTube! Congratulations!
