Metadata is data about data. Its main purpose is to describe digital data (originally the metadata was in the card catalogs of libraries). Pangea uses it in a form of Meta Tags which are essential to search engines (e.g. Google) and the search index.
To open the Metadata management page, you start by clicking the Settings button. Then choose the Metadata Management button and continue by selecting the Video Sources or the Manage Tags option.
Source management allows editors to manage the database of persons, publications, news agencies or any other subjects.
Video Source option displays the list of sources sorted by Name. To adjust the particular source you can use one of the Action buttons:
Edit Source opens the source for editing
Delete deletes the source
To create a new source you start by clicking the New Video Source button.
Manage Tags option allows you to create a database of metadata tags, commonly used while publishing content within Pangea.
As you can see in the following picture this option displays the list of tags including their name (Text) and the number of articles with this tag (# uses). To adjust the particular tag you can use one of the Action buttons.
To create a new tag, you start by writing the tag in the box provided. Then continue by clicking the Add button. It is possible to add as many tags as you like. Once you’re finished with adding the tags, click the Create added tags button.
To search the tags, you start by writing the tag in the box provided (Filter). Then click the Add button. To erase the results, click the Clear All button.
